You may remember this family from the home birth I covered just before Christmas. They invited me back for some newborn photos and Alexandra is still just a wee bitty thing (she weighed in under 6 lbs when she was born). Most amazing birth I’ve ever witnessed, hands-down. Mom Larissa had the most awe-inspiring pain tolerance. She smiled in between contractions and delivered her sweet baby girl into dad Rob’s hands. It was such a calm, peaceful experience. If I could do it all over again, I’d definitely want to try a home birth. No doctors whisking your baby away and onto a table right after birth. So awesome.
Larissa is originally from Siberia, Russia (brrrrrrr…) and wanted to use some cultural elements from her home town, so you’ll see a few samples here in their sneak peek. Rob wins the “dad most smitten with a newborn” award. You could see and hear him gush at every little sound or expression Alexandra made. I about died from the cute during the 3 hours I was there. So very sweet. And such wonderful connection he has with that wee bitty girl. She had a tight hold on his fingers when she came out of the womb, and she still had a tight hold a few weeks later. Yup, dad is a total goner. SUCKER.
And I mean that in a genuinely nice way.
