This morning I took my 4 year old son to the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. to meet our friend Galya and her family. They have this wonderful (free) program for children ages 4-7 called Stories in Art. This is the description from their website:
Stories in Art
(ages 4 to 7) This series of programs uses storytelling to introduce children to works of art. Led by museum educators, each program includes reading a children’s book, looking at one work of art in the galleries, and completing a simple hands-on activity. The summer series is presented in a four-year cycle—Explore Italy, Discover Dutch Art, Tour de France, American Adventure—each topic highlighting a different part of the permanent collection.
It was fantastic and I highly recommend it. It’s best to get there early to reserve your spot. Thanks to Galya for signing us up while we maneuvered the Metro system.
